Heat is one of the biggest silent killers of laptop performance and lifespan. As temperatures rise, so does the risk of thermal throttling, sudden shutdowns, and long-term damage to internal components. Here’s how to keep your laptop cool without any technical know-how.
Keep the vents clear. Never use your laptop on a bed, sofa, or pillow — soft surfaces block airflow and trap heat around the fans. A hard, flat surface (or a laptop stand) makes a big difference.
Clean the dust out regularly. Dust buildup inside the fan and heat sink is one of the most common causes of overheating. If your laptop is more than a year old and you’ve never had it cleaned internally, that’s likely overdue.
Avoid direct sunlight and hot rooms. Leaving a laptop in a parked car or near a sunny window during Pakistani summers can push internal temperatures dangerously high, even when the laptop is off.
Close unnecessary background apps. Every open app adds load to the processor, which generates more heat. Closing tabs and programs you’re not using keeps the system running cooler and faster.
Use a cooling pad for heavy tasks. If you’re gaming, editing video, or running demanding software for long periods, a cooling pad with a built-in fan can meaningfully lower operating temperature.
If your laptop is already overheating, shutting down unexpectedly, or the fan runs loudly all the time, it may need internal cleaning or thermal paste replacement. Our technicians can diagnose and fix this the same day.
